The Wired Metropolis: High Tech and Urban Form

This event, held in conjunction with Architecture Week ’98, explored how the high tech revolution might affect our cities and built environments, and how we can harness rapidly developing technologies to make Ottawa-Carleton a better place to live.

Bill Mitchell, Dean of the School of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and author of City of Bits: Space, Place and the Infobahn, presented his acclaimed vision of tomorrow’s urban centres.
Jim Yuan, OCRInet, discussed the Ottawa Community Network, a cooperative effort to electronically link major local institutions and their services.
Patrick Déoux, Delcan Corporation, gave an overview of trends in Ottawa-Carleton, and moderated a panel discussion.
