2003-2004 Season Past Lecture:

Ottawa’s Post-War Architectural Heritage

Ottawa’s rich and diverse inventory of post-war architecture reflects a uniquely Canadian and local interpretation of the major architectural movements of the past half century.

Janine Debanné, Associate Professor, School of Architecture, Carleton University, provided an overview of post-war architecture in Ottawa with a special focus on residential projects.
Adrian Gollner, Visual Artist, presented his recent site specific installation – Modern U – on the campus of Carleton University as a basis of his exploration of the philosophical basis of the university’s early buildings.
James Ashby, Architect, Co-Director DOCOMOMO Canada-Ontario, discussed the challenges of conserving works of post-war architecture and the role of the international advocacy agency known as DOCOMOMO (DOcumentation and COnservation of the MOdern MOvement).
